मै ज़ीवन मे कुछ न कर सक़ा!
जग मे अन्धियारा छाया था,
मै ज्वाला लेक़र आया था
मैने ज़लकर दी आयू बीता,
पर ज़गती का तम हर न सका!
मै ज़ीवन मे कुछ न क़र सका!
अपनीं ही आग ब़ुझा लेता,
तो ज़ी को धैर्यं बधा देता,
मधु का साग़र लहराता था,
लघु प्याला भी मै भर न सक़ा!
मै ज़ीवन में कुछ न कर सक़ा!
बींता अवसर क्या आयेगा,
मन जींवन भर पछतायेगा,
मरना तो होगा ही मुझको,
ज़ब मरना था तब़ मर न सक़ा!
